Rubesco is a Lungarotti trademark deriving from the Latin verb “rubescere”, to blush (with joy).
This particular selection of Rubesco from its first harvest in 1964 from Vigna Monticchio is the flagship wine of Lungarotti in the world. Considered among the best Italian reds, this wine is a deep expression of Umbria, its hills, and its people with a unique balance between power and elegance.
The Vigna Rubesco stands out for its robust and complex character. It is primarily produced from Sangiovese grapes, with a small addition of Canaiolo, which give the wine a unique aromatic profile and solid structure. The winemaking process follows traditional methods, with a long maceration of the skins and subsequent aging in oak barrels, enriching the wine with aromas of vanilla and sweet spices.
As early as the 18th century, the Lungarotti family was producing wine and oil in the Middle Tiber Valley. The experience and dedication of Lungarotti in producing high-quality wines are fully represented in this Torgiano Rosso Riserva. It is a wine that continues to evolve and captivate, suitable for connoisseurs who seek history, terroir, and craftsmanship in a wine.
