Description
Deep red in colour. Aromatic and complex, with cherries, nutmeg, cinnamon, dark chocolate. Robust structure and balance on palate but still accessible at young age. Flavours revealed with each sip. Fascinating stuff and great example in art of blending. Produced in only the best vintage years.
The Isole e Olena Gran Selezione ages for two years in French barriques and two years in oak casks prior to bottling. The wine shows gorgeous ripeness with brooding dark fruit, depth and extreme balance.
This is a wine that makes a statement upfront both in terms of the quality of the aromas and its overall integrity and persistency.
This vintage is 90% Sangiovese with 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Syrah, 1% Cabernet Franc

Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc grapes are fermented in open top oak vats, undergoing three to four weeks of maceration. The Syrah undergoes a short pre-fermentation cold soak in stainless steel with two weeks of maceration before it is pressed into barrels.

Winery Profile
Since the 1950's the De Marchi family has developed the Isole e Olena vineyards in Tuscany. De Marchi is one of the regions kings of the Sangiovese grape, at a time when Chianti was a blended wine it was he that stepped out to produce wines that were 100% Sangiovese. The estate also produces stunning Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chianti Classico, and now this Gran Selezione blend.

Can my wine be left if I’m not home?
Yes! However if someone else is accepting the delivery for you, they must be over 18 years of age. Bottega Italia cannot deliver wines to anyone less than 18 years of age. If there is any doubt about the age of the recipient on delivery, our delivery drivers are obliged to request some form of photographic ID. If that recipient is unable to produce appropriate ID then the delivery driver will be unable to leave the wine.
If nobody will be at home, then just make sure when placing your order that you give us explicit instructions that it’s ok to leave the delivery. With "Authority to Leave" deliveries, our couriers will leave the wine in a safe place, where possible at the delivery address. If that’s not possible, the driver will leave a card to advise that the delivery has been will be directed to the nearest Parcel Connect agent.
By providing us with an "Authority To Leave" instruction when placing your order, then you authorise the courier to leave the goods unattended at the delivery address and you accept that once the courier has done so, the complete order has been received.
Can my order be delivered to a P.O. Box?
Unfortunately, we can only deliver to a physical address. We cannot deliver to a P.O. Box. address.
