Torre Moro Etna Rosso - 2020

Torre Morro Rosso is pervaded by exquisite purple nuances, with ruby highlights. The intense aromas of red fruits and mandarin, interwoven with hints of blackcurrant, paint a complex and expressive wine. The palate displays exuberant tones of moss and juniper. The velvety tannins caress the palate, leaving a roaring finish, like the volcanic spirit of Etna.

Hand-harvested in late September, followed by gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation for 15 days. Aged in the barrel for 3 months prior to bottling.

Winery Profile:

Nestled along the slopes of Mount Etna, the Torre Mora vineyards capture the volcanic soul of the soil, showcasing the energetic spirit of this land. The area surrounding Mount Etna boasts unique characteristics, which, when combined, create a terroir unlike any other in the world. The lava-rich soil, the high altitude of the vineyards, and the significant temperature range between day and night ensure an ideal microclimate, laying the foundation for the production of wines of undisputed quality.

The undisputed star is Nerello Mascalese, which, along with Nerello Cappuccio, contributes to the exquisite Etna Rosso DOC. The other key player is Carricante, a white grape variety, which lends its freshness to Etna Bianco DOC. Softness and elegance are combined to create expressiveness, resulting in wines that are both fresh and complex, yet retain the volcano's signature roar.

The rugged nature of the terrain forces our winemakers to embrace heroic agriculture. The evocative natural setting complements the human touch, offering wines that speak the island's dialect.

The vineyards, farmed organically since 2016, lie between 600 to 750 meters above sea level on the northern slopes of Etna. The soil, loose, black volcanic ash, imbues these wines with character, while the winemaking objective is simply to transmit the terroir without obfuscation. Total production is about 5000 cases per year.

Torre Mora became Certified Organic in 2018.
